FAQ of Custom Upholstery and Refinishing

We get a lot of questions about custom upholstery and refinishing, so we thought we'd compile the most frequently asked questions all in one spot.

Is my piece of furniture worth redoing?

This is by far our most popular question we get asked almost daily. The answer is, it depends.

If your piece of furniture was made 15+ years ago then it probably has a sturdy frame compared to foreign mass produced furniture that are being sold in stores today. A sturdy frame is key to keeping a piece of furniture a lifetime.

Another reason, is the sentimental value the piece holds to you. If it's a heirloom from a family member who has passed away or a piece that has been passed down to you to keep in the family, we believe in keeping family pieces in the family, so we think it's well worth redoing.

Can I get an estimate on how much it would cost to redo my piece?

Yes, we offer estimates free of charge. All you have to do is head over to our contact us page and type in your information, some details about your project, and attach a couple photos of your piece. The photos really help us to give you a better estimate of your total cost.

How long does the process take?

For larger upholstery pieces, if all goes according to plan, it takes about 14-20 days from the time you place a firm fabric order to the time your piece is finished. For refinishing, it depends on how our schedule looks. Give us a call to get a better idea.

Do you offer pickup and delivery?

Yes, our cost for this service is $65 each way.

Do you do in-home visits?

In most instances, no. It's much more efficient to work in-house, so we have access to all necessary tools and materials we need. Like previously stated, we do offer a pickup and delivery service if you aren't able to bring it to us.

Do you have fabric I can choose from?

Definitely! We have the largest fabric selection in the Twin Cities, so we are sure you will find something you love.

Can I use my own fabric?

Yes, but customer's own material (COM) has no warranty or guarantee. We recommend you first check with us to make sure the fabric is appropriate for the piece you are covering and you obtain the correct yardage.

Can you custom build me a piece of furniture?

Yes, we build one-of-a-kind furniture that can be deigned to meet your needs. Check out our custom built furniture page to see what types of pieces we most commonly build.

Do you do caning work?

Unfortunately, we do not, but give us a call and we'd be happy to recommend someone for you.

Do you work with designers?

Yes, we work with many designers throughout Minnesota. If you are a designer and would like to work with us, give us a call to discuss pricing and incentives.

We hope these FAQ's of custom upholstery and refinishing helped you in your quest to redo your furniture! If any of your questions have not been answered above, please leave a comment below or send us a message on our contact us page. We would love to work with you!
